F-35 fighter jets are on standby around the clock to intercept unauthorized aircraft in Danish airspace or to assist aircraft in distress.

The vRDAF constantly has a number of observers monitoring Danish airspace, identifying any aircraft flying over Denmark.
If an aircraft enters Danish airspace without permission, or if contact cannot be established with the aircraft, the QRA—comprised of two F-35 jets—is scrambled within minutes.

The vRDAF aims to practice scrambling the QRA jets at least once a month, to simulate real life threats.
